Putting a GPU in a 1U server — summarizing the physical limits

Compare L4/A2000/T1000 form factors, power, and cooling constraints.

There are many requests to put a GPU in a 1U rack. The conclusion is that "card length and height, power, and cooling must all be satisfied simultaneously." If even one is off, installation is impossible.

Physical constraints of 1U

real-world review cases

The RTX 3050 6GB LP is 181mm long, exceeding the 168mm riser-mount limit by 13mm. Power was feasible at 70W, but it was blocked by length and cooling.

things easily overlooked

Without the server manufacturer's GPU enablement kit (riser + airflow duct + auxiliary fan), even if installed, the clock will drop due to heat. You must check for the kit first.

Being installable and operating stably are different. It is necessary to apply a load for more than 30 minutes to check whether the clock is maintained.
